Hawker Hall Restaurant
Commendation from Australian Institute of Architects (VIC) Award 2016 – Interior Architecture
Shortlisted in Eat Drink Design Awards 2016 – Best Restaurant Design
Working in collaboration with Interior designers, Eades and Bergman, this project is a contemporary Malaysian Hawker style restaurant for Chris Lucas, the highly successful restauranteur responsible for Chin Chin, Baby Pizza, and Kong.
Hawker Hall, is set within an existing majestic and atmospheric warehouse space that has been designed to conjure references to beer halls and Malaysian hawker markets. With an addition of a basement and mezzanine structure to the rear, this complex project required a well co-ordinated series of alterations and additions. This hospitality project was an exercise in learning how to make public spaces welcoming and comfortable. Due to the high turnover of seats, it was crucial to create an extremely durable and low maintenance fitout that would maintain high standards for the Client.
