The Patch Primary School
Set within a stunning, steeply wooded site in the Dandenongs, this primary school has a unique relationship to nature. Students are taught to understand their natural environment and spend lessons learning in a wetland on their grounds.
Our masterplan for the school has embraced this ethos, reimagining the site as a sensory masterplan that sees the buildings and landscape rooms as a holistic precinct.
New additions of a learning block and art classroom help reinforce the outdoor rooms, and heighten the connection to nature. Solving the accessibility across the steep site, a meandering ramp was designed as an unfolding narrative through the site, linking all the sensory experiences of the school into a unified village.
